Breaking Down the Big 12 - Iowa State
36.
Quick. Name the team that was last in the Big 12 in Total Offense, Pass Efficiency Defense, Punt Returns and Kick Returns. Next, name the team that was next to last in Passing Offense, Scoring Offense, Pass Efficiency and Tackles for Loss. Ladies and Gents, I give you......
The Iowa State Cyclones.
2007 Season: 3-9, 2-6 Conf
2008 Season: 4-8, 1-7 conf
Highlights: They're not Baylor. They had a pretty good run defense last year (44th) and they got some big o boys, Christopher Lyle DE, Curtis Brown DE and best of all converted QB 6-4 320lb Ben Lamaak who will be playing "Guard." Rushing Offense should be better to match last year's 44th ranked rushing defense.
Lowlights: They're Iowa State and they have to go to school in Ames, Iowa. I'd pick Ames, Oklahoma first.
Keys to Success: Special teams and ball control. If the Cylones can deliver in both of these areas, they could win 5 games.
The Games:
Aug. 28 South Dakota State - W
Sept. 6 Kent State - W
Sept. 13 @ Iowa - L
Sept. 20 @ UNLV - W
Oct. 4 Kansas - L
Oct. 11 @ Baylor - L
Oct. 18 Nebraska - L
Oct. 25 Texas A&M - L
Nov. 1 @ Oklahoma State - L
Nov. 8 @ Colorado - L If this was at home it would be a W. Bad timing. This game or the KSU game will be stolen by the cyclones
Nov. 15 Missouri - L
Nov. 22 @ Kansas State - W Ditto for Colorado above.
Surely these Iowa State fans were evading a stampeding mascot or something. When was the last time they had a reason to tear down the goal posts?
After beating Nebraska at home in October 2002. Don't hold your breath Cardinal breathing Cyclones or whatever your stupid mascot is. It won't happen this year.
