No 13 Kansas at No 19 South Florida 7:00pm The Deuce
South Florida is giving 3.5 on this one.  Kansas is 77th in rushing offense and 10th in passing offense and 1st in pass efficiency defense and 15th in total defense.  Kansas Special Teams look more like Special Education.  USF is 1st in total defense, 13th in pass efficiency defense and 3rd from last in Turnover margin.    They are 17th in total offense with a balanced pass and rush attack so far.   Kansas and USF are ranked 24th and 25th in pass efficiency respectively.  Both of these teams have played pretty similar competition. 

I’m taking South Florida and giving the points based on the nod on special teams and keeping Kansas D on the field longer with a balanced run/pass attack. 

Saturday September 13

2:30 No 2 Georgia at South Carolina CBS
South Carolina is getting 7.5 on this one.  This is going to be a good game.  The Dawgs take their 9th ranked offense on the road to South Carolina to play their 9th ranked defense.  No matter who starts at QB for the Cocks, they are going to have problems holding onto the ball and their stingy D won’t be able to bail them out.  All signs point to the Dawgs in this one. 

I pick the Dawgs to cover on the road.  

2:30 Georgia Tech at Virginia Tech The Mouse Ear networks
The Hokies are giving 7 on this one.  Georgia Tech has a far better rushing offense and will be able to grind this one out if they get a lead and take the crowd out of it. Dwyer and Nesbitt will be bringing the heat on Saturday. 

I’m taking the Rambling Wreck and the points. 

2:30 Michigan at Notre Dame
Straight up.  The only thing that makes this one thought above meaningless is that everyone hates one (or both) of these teams.  This looks to be a battle up front when the Irish have the ball as they are #1 in Sacks allowed (with 0) and the Michigan D is #2 in Sacks (4.5).   Notre Dame has a better O and Michigan has a better D but the Irish can’t hold onto the rock which decides it for me. 

As Dirty as it makes me feel, I’m picking slimy Rich Rod’s Wolverines on the road.

6:45 Oklahoma at Washington
Oklahoma is giving 20 on the road in Seattle.  Oklahoma’s D line (4th in sacks) will spend more time in the backfield than Jake Locker coming through porous Huskie line that is 114 in sacks allowed.  The Sooners have been guilty of some whiffs and arm tackling so far this season and I’m expecting with Locker’s size he will have runs of 20+ yards about 6 times.  Oklahoma needs to improve their ball security to cover on this one.  The Sooners punting game is embarrassing, but it’s still better than Washington’s. 

OU will take any remaining sports dignity that Oklahomans might have left in Seattle by covering this one. 

7:00 Ohio State at USC
Ohio State is getting 10.5 for this game.  Ohio State hasn’t beat USC since I was 3.  If Ohio State can’t get up for this one, then they should stay home.  I’m sure there’s nothing worse than getting pummeled in front of SC’s pathetic, didn’t graduate from there, Hollywood, bandwagon fans.   The Buckeyes have not been sharp in their two victories.  They have a weak running game and their passing game is suspect.  Look for their D to hold USC to a few 3 and outs until USC adjusts and starts putting points on the board.  Ohio State’s O cannot keep up.

Ohio State and the Big 10 are revealed as the weak conf that they are early in the season.  I pick USC given the points.  Now I need to go wash this USC scum off of me.

9:30 Wisconsin at Fresno State
The Badgers are giving 2.  On the road against Fresno State.  The badgers are in the top 10 because they beat Marshall and Akron at home.  Brandstater is the best QB so far that the Badgers will have faced.  If Fresno state can load the box and keep PJ Hill from beating them, then Wisconsin will have to win through the air. 

Badgers?  We don’t need no stinking Badgers.  I’m taking Fresno St and the points.
