What are you looking at? Sept 20th
For those of you scoring at home, I'm 13-7 against the spread this season.
No 16 E Carolina at NC State 11:00
It’s a Cinderella story. Conf USA vs ACC. The Pirates are sporting a 3-0 record while State comes in 1-2 with a freshman QB. Don’t look for any power running in this one. ECU has put together a pretty salty defense. Look for Bell and Eskridge to spend more time in the backfield than Beck does. ECU won’t be the best defense NC State has played, but they will be the 2nd best.
NC State is getting 7 points at home. I’m taking ECU and giving up the points.
Florida at Tennessee 2:30
Florida opens up SEC competition at Tennessee. The Gators have owned the Vols since the Urban Renewal in Florida. Florida hasn’t been super impressive but their defense has been. A healthy Percy Harvin doesn’t hurt at all. Defense wins tough road games and championships.
Tennessee is getting 7.5. Once again I’m picking the road favorite against the home dog to cover.
No 6 LSU at No 10 Auburn 6:45
Here are two teams that haven’t passed the ball worth anything. 103 and 67 in pass efficiency but this is their first SEC test. I expect this to be a grind it out on the ground game. LSU’s D line hasn’t been able to find the push that Auburn’s has. The Tigers held a hapless Mississippi State team to 0 first downs last week and were able to win with a solitary field goal, meaning they couldn’t produce any more than 3 points against them. After that stellar offensive performance by Auburn last week I’m not sure if 2 points is the line or the over-under. LSU has not won at Auburn in 10 years.
Auburn is getting 2 points. LSU blisters Auburn putrid offense at Jordan-Hare and there’s no rolling Toomer’s Corner this weekend.
No 3 Georgia at Arizona State 7:00
ASU and Rudy Rudy are wounded after the beating they took last week. Georgia is a little unhappy after falling to number 3 in the polls for winning. Look for an air raid on this one. Rushing O and D's are pretty evenly matched. ASU gets the nod in passing O and the Dawgs get the nod on rushing O. Dawgs win the field position battle but lose the war.
Arizona State is getting 7. Dawgs may win, but they won't cover.
