Counting them down 17, 16, 15, 14, 13

Happy New Years eve.  My recommendation to all of you is to stay home, be safe and watch some good football.  Watch the ball drop at 11 cst and go to bed.  That's my plan.

11:00 Armed Forces Bowl, Air Force vs Houston

Got to love a rematch in a bowl game.  This one was a nail biter that ended in a 3 point Houston victory the 3rd week of the season.  It’s all running all the time for the Air Force team with their 5th ranked rushing attack vs the Houston 2nd ranked passing attack.  This one will be a scoring fest with Houston’s 10th ranked scoring offense and their 92 ranked scoring defense.  Air Force plays with a lot of discipline resulting in a 12th ranked turnover margin and their 35th ranked scoring D.  Both teams shellacked Southern Utah and Air Force beat Colo St by 11 while Houston lost by 3 to the Rams.

Houston is giving up 3 points in this one.  I think they score TDs and the bus drivers can only answer with Field Goals.  Houston covers.

1:00 Brut Sun Bowl, #20 Pitt vs Oregon State

I love the fighting Beavers in this one.  I’m not even sure why.  Pitt has a better scoring D but the line play of Oregon State on both sides should be dominant.  The Beavers have a better and more balanced offense.

Fighting Beavers are giving 3.  Go on take the beaver and run, woo woo.

2:30 Music City Bowl, #24 Boston College vs Vanderbilt

This is a home game for Vandy so there’s three points for the home team.  BC has done nothing but win and win ugly this year.  This one should be no different.  BC is better at converting yards to points and their 19th ranked scoring D will lock down Vandy’s offense.

Vandy is getting four.  I’m taking BC to cover.

4:30 Insight Bowl, Minnesota vs Kansas

Kansas is facing a pretty salty Minnesota team in this one.  Minnesota can stay in the game with a turnover or two with their 12th ranked turnover margin and some help from their 49th ranked scoring D.  On offense, Kansas will score TD’s and the gophers score field goals.  Although I think the Big 11 is very weak, Kansas wouldn’t be there if they were in the Big 12 South or maybe in the Big 11.

Kansas is giving 10.  I think the Gophers should cover in this one.

6:30 Chick Fil A Bowl, LSU vs Georgia Tech

Last but not least for New Years Eve, Tech has the #3 rushing offense and the better fronts on both sides of the ball.  LSU is a better passing team and will win the special teams battle.  Tech is better at holding onto the ball.  Common threads are that both teams beat Mississippi State in September and LSU lost to Georgia in October while Tech beat Georgia a month ago.

The Ramblin Wreck is giving 4.  I’m taking Georgia Tech to cover.
